Spring onion bottoms for companion planting? / ネギの下の方はコンパニオンプランツになるのか

A short post for a wok day (and a market day).

It's often said spring onions are a good companion plant in Japan. Alternatively I'm growing chive with my veggies as spring onions are not easily available and it looks like difficult to growing it from scratch.

But now I have an idea. How about using bottom parts of spring onions I bought? It's well known technique to regrow spring onions. I was doing it when I was in Austria.

I planted five of them in a small planter with rucola as an experiment.

I'll see how it works. At least I harvested some once from the regrown spring onions ;)

ネギはコンパニオンプランツによいと言われますが、あれ、もしかしたら買ってきたネギの下だけでもよいのでは？と根っこのついた下の部分をルッコラのプランターに試しに植えてみました。

ネギを収穫することもできて一石二鳥です。コンパニオンプランツとして機能しているのかはまだ謎で、観察を続けてみようと思います。
