First of all, I am so sorry if I feel like I was spamming the community with my garden update in these past few posts. I want to show you the recent state of my shallot in the rice field; with the same treatment, give a different result on different shallot varieties.
Look at the shallot below, it look skinny isn't i? this one is from the Tajuk Variety, one of the shallot varieties that is bred in East Java. I have planted this variety a few times now, but it always has disease issues. I still could not find the right way to cultivate it in my area.
What I like about this type is that if they grow well, they can be sold in a better price than the one that I will show you later. But growing them has been quite an issue for me so far.
Now on the second variety, this one is called Bali Karet. It grows quite well, and it seems that they are a lot stronger towards the disease compared to Tajuk above. But the problem usually is that they tend to have fewer shoots from each bulb, so the harvest might be lower.
The good thing is that usually they have a bigger bulb size, so it will be easier to sell. The other issue is that they tend to be cheaper, as they rot quite fast if not handled correctly. But I will have to see for the real harvest to see the real comparison.
