Brewing Coffee with Ground Cinnamon Blossoms / シナモンの花とともに挽いていれるコーヒー

I thought this was the perfect title and topic to share on Cinnamon Cup Coffee.

Last year, my daughter and my favorite spice vendor had a booth at the Christmas market. My daughter loves trying all kinds of spices there. After tasting a few, the favorite turned out to be cinnamon blossoms! The shopkeeper kindly ground some with a coffee mill, and when we tasted it, it had a lovely cinnamon scent and a natural sweetness.

My daughter still snacks on the crunchy blossoms from time to time, but I love grinding them together with coffee beans and brewing a cup. It tastes sweet even without any sugar.

Today I used a Makita drill to grind them. The top of my Hario mill is hexagonal, so I bought a matching drill bit, which makes it easy to grind coffee or spices quickly. And when I feel like taking it slow, I just use the handle and grind by hand.

I enjoyed a delicious morning cup on the balcony.

If you ever come across dried cinnamon blossoms, I really recommend giving them a try. I’ve become a big fan of this coffee and will definitely buy more if I find that spice shop again.

昨年クリスマスマーケットに顔馴染みのスパイス屋さんが出店していました。子供がここでいろいろなスパイスを試すのが大好きなんですよね。あれこれ試して、気に入ったのが、シナモンの花！店員さんがコーヒーミルで挽いてくれて、口の中に入れるとほのかにシナモンの香りがして甘いのなんの。

子供はカリカリ時々思い出しては食べているのですが、私はこれをコーヒー豆と一緒に挽いてコーヒーを淹れるのが大好きです。お砂糖を入れていないのに甘いんですよね。

一つ一つはこんな感じです。

今日はMakitaのドリルで挽きました。Harioのミルの受け側が六角になっていて、ぴったりのビットを買ってドリルで楽々高速にコーヒーやスパイスを挽けるようにしました。ゆったり手で挽きたいときはハンドルで手回しすればOK！

おいしくバルコニーで朝の一杯を楽しみました。
