Everyone preached and we're so persistent on giving awareness and enlightenment on the effectiveness on hardwork as we grow up and this came especially from adults and elders who have gone through the hurdles of life right before us. They made us know and believe that hardwork pays off and there were even many songs been sang around it so that we can always remember in any way all they ever said about hardwork to us.
Truly, this has always been real and validated as we keep getting good results when we put in efforts to read our books and come out excellently well in academics while those who are lazy ends up in failure or begging and bribing teachers or lectures with money or their bodies.
It has made us get the retention and promotions at our places of work, giving us the morale and motivation to work even more but until when we realized that there were actually some people we met there in that same organization, or friends with same level of strength and hard work like us are there stagnant like a pool, not recognized for their hardwork let alone been rewarded for it. Then, the question pops in, if hardwork alone was really the answer or luck was involved.
For me and in my own perspective, I will say that in as much as it is so necessary and efficient that we work hard, luck helps in putting the hard work before the right faces and people who have the capacity to raise that hardwork for recognition and better position.
You would agree with me that many graduates came out with first class in a very complicated course and difficult department for their academics but is it all of these first class graduates that made it to the limelight, or got employed based on their grades. Many of them are out there serving those who even graduated with 2nd class lower and that shows that luck is necessarily necessary for hardwork to pay off.
It doesn't matter how learned you're in farming and ploughing your land, if luck is not on your side then all hard work put in place brings out poor produce for the market.
I have always been a product of luck, being retained where others are rejected, been appointed to lead those I met on ground, being promoted before those that were due to be promoted before me. All these are not because I was so diligent than them but because luck was on my side and it made my hard work get seen at the right time in the right way and appreciated.
In summary and conclusion, I would say that, as long as hardwork pays and is efficient, luck is like a fuel that makes it move at a faster pace.
