Hello hive it's #needleworkmonday

So, today I made a sleeveless dress with a floral crepe fabric using an old pattern I drafted while in fashion school.

One of the importance of sewing with patterns is that you can reuse your patterns to create thesame style multiple times without having to start from the scratch and new designs can also be recreated from old patterns

My pattern was drafted using my accurate measurements without adding any seam allowance to it.

The basic bodice and basic skirt patterns that I used was drafted using Natalie Bray's standard method of drafting

I went on to place my already drafted pattern on my fabric and added my sewing allowance on the fabric, I added an inch (1") allowance all round and cut it out.

One of the challenges I had while sewing was the front bodice pattern was bigger than the front skirt pattern because, the front basic bodice pattern is always bigger than the back while the basic skirt pattern, both the front and back are equal in sizes.

I overcame the challenges by making sure my darts on both the upper bodice and the skirt aligned though I have much allowance excess on the upper bodice than the skirt.

Here is the outcome of my sleeveless dress using basic patterns.
