The recent holidays and weekends piled up some due follow ups.

I don't know whether anyone has been reading some of my old entries here but just to repeat an old thought:

Most people don't really think about other people unless it poses a conflict to their own self interest. Naturally, they come in for a regular consult wanting it to be as quick as possible but that's one of the most unrealistic expectations to have especially post holiday season when everyone just wants to get this over and done.

It's not a surprise to see a long line of patients outside the out patient department bearing with the discomforts attached to waiting. When it's their turn to get called, they'd either be irritable or be understanding for the long wait. From my point of view, I probably entertained around 10 - 15 people's problems while it's just their 1 on 1 encounter with me after I call in "next!".

Ever had a friend consult you their problems? ever had someone do a trauma dump on you? we'll the job is that except you get to meet more people within the business day doing that to you. That's not just 1 friend coming in for their problems on a daily basis.

Don't get me wrong, I love my job and what I do but I can't be positive about things 24/7. This job isn't for those with thin patience. It's unrealistic to expect people coming in for consult to be understanding because they'll be more focused about their own discomforts, I get that.

This is why I'm not really fond of holidays on weekdays. Because work just piles up the next business day and my workaholic side tends to act up on getting things done as soon as possible than deal with backlogs.

I know the post sounds like a complaint than inspirational but I'm actually excited to come to work on Mondays because I love my job and happy to see the same patients follow through their word about following up as scheduled.

Thanks for your time.
