Every hour of your day is already accounted for, and you have trained yourself to squeeze even more out of the hours that are left. But there is no slack anywhere in the schedule, no room to breathe between one demand and the next. It feels responsible, but it might actually be the thing that breaks you.
Borrowed from the world of elite sprinting, the 85% rule suggests that if you push yourself at one hundred percent all the time, sooner or later you will snap. On the other hand, leaving 15% of yourself in reserve is not slacking. It is the safety net that will get you across the finish line at your best.
So here is my question for you today, where in your week could you deliberately leave 15% of yourself in reserve?
