You are so focused on winning the final prize that you completely miss the growth happening inside the struggle itself. I know because I have chased myself the finish line so hard that I nearly missed what was actually changing in me along the way.
When my daughter finally earned her badge, her smile was not really about the medal, it was about becoming someone who does not quit. Here is what that taught me, and what I remind my clients whenever they are fixated on the outcome. The medal you are chasing is not the real reward, the resilience you build while chasing it is, and that is the part nobody can ever take away from you.
So here is a question for you, are you so focused on the final medal that you are missing the resilience you are building right now?
