Today I came across a video online, which I’m sharing through this link. The video discusses The Death of Hive-Blog. The author examines the initial purpose of Hive as a refuge for those in favor of freedom of expression, as well as a space for content creators and cryptocurrency enthusiasts. However, he mentions some things I have noticed myself, which is why I decided to write this article in the hope of hearing your opinions on the matter. Have you noticed a significant decline in Hive?
As I understand it, Hive-Blog was created as a platform where users could share thoughts, photos, videos, music, etc., and receive rewards in it's cryptocurrency. According to the video’s author, creativity and human effort were highly valued in its early days. However, he claims that today, some drastic negative changes are evident: on one hand, the growing prominence of content generated by artificial intelligence, which is displacing the authenticity and creativity that once defined the community; and on the other hand, ethically questionable practices, such as the control of cryptocurrency flows by the so-called Whales. According to Alejandro, this has led to distrust and disillusionment among users. What are your thoughts on this?
Additionally, he ironically mentions how certain prominent events, such as the High Power Up Day, which aimed to foster community growth and especially to support new users, have lost their impact. According to him, it all gives the impression of futile efforts in a divided community. What do you think about this?
The author of the video concludes that Hive faces challenges that threaten its relevance and growth. Do you believe this to be the case? If it’s true, what could we do to help Hive regain its identity and the trust of its users? Will Hive become an example of how not to manage a digital community?
