Think back to the version of you who loved learning, the one who couldn't wait to open a fresh book or figure out how something worked.

Somewhere along the way you became good at what you do, and the reading turned into preparation, the questions turned into products or services, but the joy of discovery quietly slipped out of your life.

No one really plans for something like that to happen, but it does. The curiosity doesn't disappear, it just gets crowded out by the need to perform or deliver. When I look at the people I grew up with and the leaders I have coached, I see the same pattern, for many of them, somewhere along the way the love for learning what they do got buried under the pressures of the day.

So here is a question for you, when was the last time you read something purely to learn rather than to perform?
