I know exactly how scary it feels to lose your professional identity, and I know how humbling it is to be the newbie again when you are used to being the expert.

For over two decades I worked as a spiritual counselor, and I thought I knew exactly how the rest of my life would unfold. Then, due to financial reasons, we had to close our congregation, and I had to start all over again. After years of studying and earning new certifications I became a professional coach, and my very first job in this new chapter was helping other people navigate their own job transitions.
Durante más de dos décadas trabajé como consejero espiritual, y pensé que sabía exactamente cómo iba a ser el resto de mi vida. Luego, por razones económicas, tuvimos que cerrar nuestra congregación, y tuve que empezar de cero. Después de años de estudio y de obtener nuevas certificaciones me convertí en coach profesional, y mi primer trabajo en esta nueva etapa fue ayudar a otras personas a atravesar sus propias transiciones laborales.
Being a beginner again taught me humility, and humility frees you from the pressure of having to figure everything out on your own. I also learned that a forced transition can become the greatest opportunity of your life.
Volver a ser principiante me enseñó humildad, y la humildad te libera de la presión de tener que resolverlo todo tú solo. También aprendí que una transición forzada puede convertirse en la mayor oportunidad de tu vida.
