Good day to you all. I am Pirate Q. The one and only Pirate that sails a paper ship. Don't worry about the paper ship sinking. Pirate Q never drowns. There is always a way out unless you feel there is no way out again. I believe in God, smart work, my phone, and my sub…
If not for being a gentleman that I am. I would have destroyed a lot of things that aren't profitable for me. But I am grateful I was trained to be gentle and I also became one.
People are so crazy in life that they just keep annoying you and want to see the evil in you. Even though they might not even be able to contain the aftermath of it.
Especially all these online vendors here in Nigeria. They are the CEOs of so many things. They are the CEO of a bag shop they went to make videos at, and they are also the CEO of some bales of second-hand clothing they went to snap at the market. They control a lot within the little space of their data and their phone. We are the ones spearheading the consequences of not being wise enough.
But is there anything bad about trying to patronize a friend?
There are a lot of scenarios I could list on this incident where I get to laugh my ass out because of the outcome of it. Recently a friend of mine uploaded on his status that He is not the wicked type but he just can't patronize online vendors again. Once bitten twice shy. As experience had become his best teacher. Just imagine what his eyes must have seen from all those deliveries and shopping he thought he was doing then.
However, I am not the type that does online shopping as I prefer to see what I want to get myself and make my choices, feel the texture, the quality, color, and all sorts before buying.
I will give an instance of a scenario where I got to experience what I ordered vs. what I got.
CASE NUMBER 1
It was some years ago when I had to prepare for my convocation ceremony. I already got my clothes prepared by a talented fashionista I know and it was delivered. Then I was left with shoes to rock this dress of mine. I went to visit one of my friends and saw a shoe in his room. I loved it. It was just so cool and fitting. I asked how much he got it and where he got it.
He didn’t even think twice before he told me that the shoes were gifted to him and he couldn't say what the price could be. There is no time left. Just a few days until the convocation ceremony. I would have taken it to a shoemaker to help me make something similar. But who did I want to take that to within a short time frame?
My friend felt my mood and decided to recommend one of his friends who makes shoes. He promised me she would deliver well. And I had no choice but to patronize. She showed me her WhatsApp catalog of different shoes and lucky me saw something similar to my choice. I told her to get to me. And she confirmed my order with a payment receipt. My mind was at rest.
A day before convocation, I was a little concerned about my shoes. Then I had to hit her up. She told me it was ready and then I even had to trek a long distance to her home to get it instead of it getting delivered to my doorstep. She apologized that she would be busy welcoming her guests for the convocation too.
I got my package, sealed in a box and a customized bag. Couldn’t wait any longer to get home. I wished I could fly. I got home and my friends were waiting for my arrival so badly.
I entered the room and didn’t even allow anyone to get close, I unboxed the shoes myself and was so surprised with what my eyes saw. My friends laughed and laughed at me. But I was disappointed. I just had to laugh in pain with them. I messaged her about the wrong shoe she got for me. Then she said she was sorry for the wrong choice she made. Sorry again. You just ruined my happy day (I thought 💭)
I had to fill up the oversized shoes with paper and even managed to wear them on that day. Every time I stared at my shoes that day I would hiss and hiss.
I think I am a stubborn goat. I still went further to patronize her again since she said she felt sad and promised to make up for the disappointment. This time around it was well delivered.
