THE BIRTHDAY PARTY
James just clocked 18 years and he was likely going to celebrate his birthday at home. He has decided to call his friends for the party but he needs his parents' permission to do that. He told them he would like to be having a party, they accepted and also promised to support him, all they requested of him is to never smoke or drink but every other type of fun is fully welcomed.
He was pleased with the response from his parents who gave him a go-ahead to do whatever he wants. His friends were invited to his home as they party all day. At the party was where he was opportune to get a full glance of a beautiful damsel apart from seeing her in school clothes, he had been eyeing her for so long but never got the courage to approach her. So on his birthday, everyone had offered to have a dance with him.
It was Mary’s turn to dance with the celebrant, she denied it at first but when James got to her front and stretched his hands forward to her, she couldn’t deny him, his handsome look and the pure smile would make any lady go crazy. She could resist that and stepped out to have a dance with him.
James was happy within him because he must have thought this is the best time for him to express himself to her personally without anyone getting suspicious. While they dance around, he then whispered to her hearing
James: Mary, You are quite good at dancing
Mary: I just had to do it because it’s your day, I am not the dancing type.
James: But you are doing perfectly well I am so pleased with you.
Mary: You’re welcome.
James: Mary. There is something I …… (Mary's phone rang)
It was Mary’s grandma calling her, she had to excuse the party to attend to her. James nodded his head in regret for losing this one-time perfect opportunity. It was indeed an opportunity but once for him. He just hopes some other chance could show up some days in the future.
The party became extremely boring to James since Mary left. After some moment of fun, everyone started to leave for their various homes. At this point, it became even more boring than before.
BACK TO SCHOOL
It was another day in school after the long vacation. So everyone was looking so good. James also got to school early, while in the class he was looking around for Mary. Maybe he could see her express his feelings towards her. After the whole day's classes, he realized she didn’t come around the school premises for the day. This lasted for two days, James felt like it was all over, he couldn’t concentrate in the class. His mind is always about getting in touch with her, he couldn’t tell if it was just mere infatuation or if he started to fall in love.
He asked around from Mary’s friends to give him her home address so he could visit her and know why she was absent from school. That was when he got the most shocking news ever. One of her friends said, “So you don’t know she is traveling out of the country?” Upon hearing this from them James excused himself and ran straight to her house. He saw her packing her last luggage from afar, he screamed her name, but she never heard. Mary got into the car and drove off.
James got to the front of her house so tired and was breathing heavily. He placed his hands on his knees looking straight as the car continued to buzz off the highway. He couldn’t cry, but his heart could feel pain. He waved hoping she could sight him from the side mirror before he turned his back to head back home.
THE INTERMISSION
Mary arrived safely at her destination, she traveled down to the UK to further her studies where her parents reside. She was happy meeting her family again but some part of her heart reminisced the memories she had at school with her friends, especially the birthday moments she had with James it was still one of the best memories she ever had in her life.
She had to study her medical course for five years even before she could dream of coming back to meet her grandmother again. James on the other hand took a long time to recover from the pains and regret of not expressing himself to her earlier before she traveled. This had been bothering his heart for years. No matter how much he tries to get over it, every year he celebrates his birthday makes him think more about her.
James had been having a hard time focusing on other girls even on those who gave him their attention, he was blinded by the love he still had for Mary. When he looks into their eyes all he sees on their face is that beautiful smile from Mary.
He tried to focus more on his studies and got out of the higher institutions as an engineer with outstanding grades. His parents provided him with a well-paying job and he was pleased with it. But how cool would it have been having Mary by his side? His mom approached him one day to ask about him getting married, then he told her he is not ready to marry for now. It also resulted in some misunderstandings between himself and his parents. His mom told him they have someone he could marry if he had none. But he insisted he won’t marry anyone even though he has none.
His parents should have taken it lightly with him but they were so anxious about his reason for not getting married. The argument went on for days and this accumulated more thought about Mary in his heart. He was never himself, at some point he felt like running far away from his parents to stay alone.
He planned for this day, then it was time to execute his plans. He was about to pack his loads before he collapsed. His mum heard the strange noise and immediately rushed into his room. She called for help and they rushed him to the hospital for immediate treatment.
James was diagnosed with high blood pressure which resulted in a stroke. It must have cost a lot of money to get the treatments. Money wasn’t the issue but who would treat him?. The hospital needs to outsource a neurologist who would work on him. They did so with immediate effect.
THE FINALE
The outsourced doctors arrived and were about to work on the patient. She requested his file and she discovered it was the same James who she had feelings for back then at school. She assured his parents that he would be fine since she would be doing her very best to make him healthy again.
The doctor performed her best with the operation and it was a success. It was time for her to leave, but she didn’t leave his side. She stood by his side every day till he got better. James was finally able to open his eyes and blabber. The view was faded but he could see himself in the hospital and a lady beside him. He tried turning his head to the left and saw his mother staring at him pitifully. She must have wept a lot. He looked back to his right and saw a clear vision of the lady who was beside him as a doctor and the look resembled that of Mary’s. He forced himself to sit up but both women told him to get to rest back.
He slept off but every time he woke this doctor is always by his side. He was forced to ask her if she knew anyone called Mary? Then her response was “Get better first”. He could recall from her voice. She must be Mary. He smiled brightly again after years. His mum felt the love and affection between both of them. Tears began to drop down Mary’s face as she was out of words. She had missed his presence so much. James Mum had to excuse them. They had a lot of conversations and were happy to be together again.
It’s been years since the two love birds lost their way into different parts of the world but their heart was still connected. They promised each other not to get apart ever again. Seeing Mary again after a long time triggered his recovery. He was able to do things on time. So he was discharged from the hospital weeks before the speculated time.
Their story was so touching as James' mother accepted Mary with all her heart. She realized that a child's choice would surely go a long way to make them happy, love should also come from the heart and not the tongue or body structure.
Both parents came together to plan a wedding ceremony for their children, it was the greatest one that has ever happened. The marriage ceremony was among the best. They got back to their jobs and lived happily together with their kids.
LA FIESTA DE CUMPLEAÑOS
James acaba de cumplir 18 años y probablemente iba a celebrar su cumpleaños en casa. Ha decidido llamar a sus amigos para la fiesta, pero para ello necesita el permiso de sus padres. Les dijo que le gustaría hacer una fiesta, ellos aceptaron y también prometieron apoyarle, lo único que le pidieron es que no fumara ni bebiera nunca, pero cualquier otro tipo de diversión es totalmente bienvenida.
Se alegró de la respuesta de sus padres, que le dieron el visto bueno para hacer lo que quisiera. Invitaron a sus amigos a su casa, ya que se pasan el día de fiesta. En la fiesta fue donde tuvo la oportunidad de echar un vistazo completo a una hermosa damisela aparte de verla en ropa de colegio, la había estado mirando durante mucho tiempo pero nunca tuvo el valor de acercarse a ella. Así que el día de su cumpleaños, todo el mundo se había ofrecido a bailar con él.
Le tocó a María bailar con el festejado, ella lo negó al principio pero cuando James llegó a su frente y le tendió las manos, no pudo negárselo, su mirada apuesto y la sonrisa pura harían enloquecer a cualquier dama. Ella pudo resistirse a eso y salió a bailar con él.
James se alegró en su interior porque debió pensar que era el mejor momento para expresarse personalmente con ella sin que nadie sospechara. Mientras bailaban, le susurró al oído
James: Mary, eres muy buena bailando
María: Sólo tenía que hacerlo porque es tu día, no soy de las que bailan.
James: Pero lo haces muy bien: Pero lo haces perfectamente bien estoy muy contento contigo.
Mary: De nada: De nada.
James: Mary. Hay algo que ...... (El teléfono de Mary sonó)
Era la abuela de Mary que la llamaba, tuvo que excusar la fiesta para atenderla. James asintió con la cabeza lamentando haber perdido esta oportunidad única y perfecta. De hecho, era una oportunidad pero una vez para él. Sólo espera que se le presente alguna otra oportunidad en el futuro.
La fiesta se volvió extremadamente aburrida para James desde que Mary se fue. Después de un momento de diversión, todo el mundo empezó a irse a sus casas. En este punto, se volvió aún más aburrido que antes.
VUELTA A LA ESCUELA
Era otro día en la escuela después de las largas vacaciones. Así que todo el mundo estaba muy bien. James también llegó temprano a la escuela, mientras en la clase buscaba a Mary. Tal vez podría verla para expresar sus sentimientos hacia ella. Después de todo el día de clases, se dio cuenta de que ella no venía por las instalaciones de la escuela durante el día. Esto duró dos días, James sintió que todo había terminado, no podía concentrarse en la clase. Su mente siempre estaba pensando en ponerse en contacto con ella, no podía saber si era sólo un mero enamoramiento o si empezaba a enamorarse.
Pidió a los amigos de Mary que le dieran la dirección de su casa para poder visitarla y saber por qué se ausentaba de la escuela. Fue entonces cuando recibió la noticia más impactante. Una de sus amigas le dijo: "¿Así que no sabes que está de viaje fuera del país?". Al escuchar esto de ellos James se excusó y corrió directamente a su casa. La vio empacar su último equipaje desde lejos, gritó su nombre, pero ella no lo escuchó. María subió al coche y se marchó.
James llegó al frente de su casa muy cansado y respiraba con dificultad. Colocó las manos sobre las rodillas mirando de frente mientras el coche seguía zumbando por la autopista. No podía llorar, pero su corazón podía sentir dolor. Saludó con la mano esperando que ella pudiera verlo por el espejo lateral antes de darle la espalda para regresar a su casa.
EL INTERMEDIO
María llegó sana y salva a su destino, viajó al Reino Unido para ampliar sus estudios donde residen sus padres. Estaba feliz de reencontrarse con su familia pero una parte de su corazón rememoraba los recuerdos que tuvo en la escuela con sus amigos, especialmente los momentos de cumpleaños que tuvo con James seguía siendo uno de los mejores recuerdos que tuvo en su vida.
Tuvo que estudiar la carrera de medicina durante cinco años antes de poder soñar con volver a encontrarse con su abuela. James, por su parte, tardó mucho tiempo en recuperarse de las penas y el arrepentimiento por no haberle expresado antes antes su viaje. Esto había estado molestando su corazón durante años. Por mucho que intente superarlo, cada año que celebra su cumpleaños le hace pensar más en ella.
A James le había costado mucho centrarse en otras chicas, incluso en las que le prestaban su atención, estaba cegado por el amor que aún sentía por María. Cuando las mira a los ojos lo único que ve en su rostro es esa hermosa sonrisa de Mary.
Intentó centrarse más en sus estudios y salió de los institutos superiores como ingeniero con notas sobresalientes. Sus padres le proporcionaron un trabajo bien remunerado y se sintió satisfecho. Pero, ¿a qué hubiera sido genial tener a María a su lado? Su madre se le acercó un día para preguntarle si se iba a casar, pero él le dijo que no estaba dispuesto a hacerlo por el momento. También se produjeron algunos malentendidos entre él y sus padres. Su madre le dijo que tenían a alguien con quien podía casarse si no tenía. Pero él insistió en que no se casará con nadie aunque no tenga ninguna.
Sus padres deberían haberlo tomado a la ligera con él, pero estaban muy preocupados por su razón para no casarse. La discusión se prolongó durante días y esto acumuló más pensamientos sobre María en su corazón. Nunca fue él mismo, en algún momento tuvo ganas de huir lejos de sus padres para quedarse solo.
Planeó este día, luego llegó el momento de ejecutar sus planes. Estaba a punto de hacer las maletas antes de desmayarse. Su madre oyó el extraño ruido e inmediatamente corrió a su habitación. Pidió ayuda y lo llevaron al hospital para que recibiera tratamiento inmediato.
A James le diagnosticaron hipertensión arterial, lo que le provocó un derrame cerebral. Los tratamientos debieron costar mucho dinero. El dinero no era el problema, sino quién le iba a tratar. El hospital tiene que contratar a un neurólogo que le atienda. Lo hicieron con efecto inmediato.
EL FINAL
Los médicos subcontratados llegaron y se dispusieron a trabajar con el paciente. Ella pidió su expediente y descubrió que era el mismo James por el que había sentido algo en el colegio. Aseguró a sus padres que estaría bien, ya que haría todo lo posible para que volviera a estar sano.
La doctora hizo todo lo posible con la operación y fue un éxito. Llegó el momento de marcharse, pero no se separó de él. Se quedó a su lado todos los días hasta que mejoró. Por fin James pudo abrir los ojos y balbucear. La vista se desvanecía pero podía verse a sí mismo en el hospital y a una señora a su lado. Intentó girar la cabeza hacia la izquierda y vio a su madre mirándole con lástima. Debía de haber llorado mucho. Volvió a mirar a su derecha y vio una visión clara de la señora que estaba a su lado como un médico y la mirada se parecía a la de María. Se obligó a incorporarse pero ambas mujeres le dijeron que volviera a descansar.
Se durmió pero cada vez que se despertaba esta doctora estaba siempre a su lado. Se vio obligado a preguntarle si conocía a alguien llamado María. La respuesta de ella fue: "Mejórate primero". El pudo recordar por su voz. Ella debe ser María. Volvió a sonreír con fuerza después de años. Su madre sintió el amor y el afecto entre ambas. Las lágrimas comenzaron a caer por el rostro de María al quedarse sin palabras. Había echado mucho de menos su presencia. La mamá de James tuvo que disculparlos. Conversaron mucho y se alegraron de volver a estar juntos.
Hacía años que los dos tortolitos se habían perdido en diferentes partes del mundo pero su corazón seguía conectado. Se prometieron no separarse nunca más. Volver a ver a María después de mucho tiempo provocó su recuperación. Fue capaz de hacer las cosas a tiempo. Así que recibió el alta del hospital semanas antes de lo previsto.
Su historia fue muy conmovedora, ya que la madre de James aceptó a Mary con todo su corazón. Se dio cuenta de que la elección de un hijo seguramente les haría muy felices, el amor también debe venir del corazón y no de la lengua o de la estructura del cuerpo.
Ambos padres se reunieron para planear una ceremonia de boda para sus hijos, fue la más grande que ha ocurrido. La ceremonia matrimonial fue de las mejores. Volvieron a sus trabajos y vivieron felices junto a sus hijos.
