Today is another beautiful Friday on the earth’s surface. I hope we all have a nice time here on the hive platform and the open mic community. It’s always a pleasure finding myself among people with beautiful hearts that are always ready to put a smile on someone’s face each day.
I always love to recommend putting a smile on someone’s face a day, it might have just saved their lives.
Back to the topic of the day. Do I have to suffer being a novice??
There are times we just have to encounter some things in life as a newbie or something new to us. When we find people in such a position we say they are novices in that aspect. After buying a new car, you would remain a novice in driving until you get perfected and become a professional driver. When you get to a workplace for the first time then you must overcome the problem of being a novice by trying to get yourself acquainted with the do and don't of the work environment. The same thing applies to students who just got to a new school or an advanced area of knowledge.
To my story
I was in my first year of university and still in my first week of lectures. I have been trying to figure out some lecture halls by myself and that was amazing. The signboard and school map also made it easier to recognize them. I have gotten all the lecture rooms apart from the lecture hall where the math class I missed was held. That shouldn’t be much of a problem.
The day came around the corner, then I thought I would just locate the lecture hall easily just as I did in other lecture rooms. I never knew what was there ahead of me. My lecture period should last for 3 hours, so I already got to school 30 minutes before the time.
In search of the lecture hall.
At times being a novice is somehow disappointing, you would love to prove you knew better than others did. I decided to embark on the search for the lecture hall and assumed if I couldn’t get it then at least I would get to know more areas of the school premises.
3 hours into the search I couldn’t find anywhere with the lecture hall description. I don’t know any of my mates yet even if I am to follow them to the hall. I got exhausted after trekking the same route for an hour. At the end of the day, I resorted to becoming a novice so I had to ask someone. He then pointed to the building where I was having a rest.
Wow 😯. I wished I could punish myself at that moment. I have been going around this same location for hours now and still had to rest here without knowing I have gotten to where I wanted.
Since then I promised myself to always ask about things especially when I find myself a novice. There is no shame in asking and acquiring more. The shame here is suffering unnecessarily over what should have been done easily.
