I don't know how popular these are in other countries but here it is called Makhana / Puffed lotus seeds / Fox nuts.
Quite similar to popcorn in appearance but these are highly nutritious.
I have come across huge packets of Makhana everytime I went grocery shopping. But never cared to check what it was until one day I found a guy in a cookery show bragging about its benefits and how it can be used.
I was still not convinced how can these be seeds of a plant, what part of plant they come from etc etc.Did some google search and watched youtube videos and finally quenched my thirst😊
Here in India they are mainly turned into a crunchy snack.
Dry roast the Makhanas and keep aside. On a pan add some oil and throw in some peanuts and curry leaves along with a pinch of salt, turmeric and chillypowder to taste.
Add it to the roasted makhan as tempering and you are good to go.Munch on it with tea or whenever you feel like biting into some junk food😁
Here is my version👇

Was not bad.It was crunchy with a tint of salt and spice in between. But one thing which I didn't like about Makhana is the smell when we chew it.But considering the nutitional value it can be ignored😁

Also heard about making a form of dessert known as kheer.Yet to try it!!Someday soon.

Happy steeming
