Since the past 2 days the weather has been bad in the Middle East, specially in UAE and Oman the most affected. Other regions I am not sure what has been happening but UAE has been severe and Oman has been bad but still manageable. In UAE there has been hailstorm as well. Roads are flooded and it's safe to be indoors during such time. Here in Oman the Ministry had declared a holiday for all the schools and offices, though some of the offices still functioned with minimal staff on important functions. Customer support divisions of companies who operate 24x7 cannot be shut. I feel bad for these guys, but then a job is a job, you have agreed to it with all term and conditions so you need to.
It also reminded me of one incident that took place with me in my job in Mumbai. I was newly inducted in HR and still learning. One of the days there was a very heavy rainfall and everyone from the office was asked to leave. Assuming that everyone has to leave, I too left in the office bus that was arranged. The next day when I got to office, my Manager yelled at me asking where was I yesterday, and I told him that the orders were given to everyone to leave so I left. He yelled at me again saying, these orders are not relevant for HR and come may whatever HR has to be there in office till last. I had got into tears by then because I felt very humiliated in front of everyone and silly also that I did not know the responsibilities of my job well. On a funnier side, after that I did not speak with that manager for a couple of days and he again came to me as if nothing has happened and asked me, why are you not talking to me. I was stunned with that question, and I told him, that he should have mind his behavior and even if I was wrong, there was a way of saying it. He did agree to that and apologized and then the matter was resolved. It's been more then 20 years to that incident but I will never forget. Sometimes you learn some lessons in life the hard way.
Coming back to the present, as I mentioned my mom is not keeping very well, and the infection has passed onto me as well. I have been feeling low since the past 2 days, but physically I have strength, so I still carry on with my daily activities on a slower pace.

Today the weather is better, but they have declared holiday in schools, while the offices still function. As kids these kind of holidays were so much fun. No school means all play time. I enjoy such weather and I wish that I was at optimal health to enjoy it, but since I have been down with the flu, most of the time I have been in the bed and I missed the vibes. If I was in good shape, I would have gone for a drive.
And with hubby it's another story, when I am unwell, he constantly nags me to take medicines and I am a complete No for that, unless it is a condition that cannot be resolved with natural therapies. For Flu, it is a 5 days process and it gets better, so I never take any pills. He has been eating my head up to convince me to take medicine and some times I find that more exhausting then dealing with the illness :-)
The problem with Middle East is that it looks very glamorous from the outside but such weathers disrupts the life completely, the infrastructure does not support heavy rains, so there is always a precaution needed.
