Not any kind of storm, as this one pelted us with heavy rain the whole night.
I will show you the build-up to the storm with some lovely clouds (9 shots), and then the rain (1 shot), and finally a view that I took from a high spot that I will do a post about soon. (1 shot).
The weather bureau sent out a warning about a low-pressure system that is building up over our area, and oh yes, they got it so right, as we had a deluge of rain tumbling down from the skies. Thankfully, we had no damages and instead the rain moved on to soak all of the drought areas further inland. There are places that have not had rain for 9 years, and you can imagine how glad the farmers were to see tons of rain falling on their dry lands.
Normally, the storm rains will fall in our dam catchment areas, but that was not to be this time, as instead the dam levels just kept on declining. But how knows? Maybe we will get some more rain, and one can only hope for good tidings.
Keep your eyes on the lower right-hand corner of this picture, as I will show you how lovely that layer of three clouds at the right of the tree look in the shot below.

That is the single mountain at the start of the mountain range. I have said a few times before, that we are surrounded by mountains. Not a full surround, as we live in a bay and it fronts on the Atlantic Ocean. Thankfully, there is abundant nature in the bay, and all kinds of activities such as trail hikes in the mountains, and at the other end, water sports in the sea. Many other activities are also offered here. And don't forget about the wine farms.

No way was I going to step outside to show you the rain at night, and I took this shot through our bedroom window of our back garden to show you how wet things were.
Finally, as I said at the intro, I took this shot below to show you the view of Table Mountain, on the same day and I will do a post on the views there soon.
So, there you have it and just maybe we will have some more, much needed, rain over the dam catchment areas. We looked at the river, and it is coming down strongly, but the water in the river runs straight down into the ocean. I wonder if a plan cannot be made that will divert the water into holding dams before it reaches the ocean. It can certainly be done, because there is much space.
But that is just my view on it, and I am certain that the thought was entertained at one stage or another, but something must have been against it. Since they fixed our river here, we are not having any more floods, for two years now, and the weird thing is that for the same two years we did not have any snow on the mountain peaks. It is said that our winters are becoming warmer, which in my mind is not a good thing. The blame is on that El Nino guy.
Such is life.
