The medieval town of Óbidos is one of the most charming and picturesque in Portugal. The castle of Obidos has been converted into ‘pousada’ a luxurious hotel but you would never know by looking at it from the outside. It is an impressive place, like something straight out of a movie. Walking thru the village will take you back in time and make you feel like a princess. It’s free to explore so make sure to check it out when you’re in Portugal 🇵🇹
The walls of the castle of Obidos are beautiful and are worth the climb to get there. Fair warning thou - the path around the castle wall only has a wall on the exterior side. On the interior, there is no wall or railing ... just a sheer drop.
The view from the castle looking out across the countryside and villages is breathtaking. You know that those photos and videos you just took won't look half as good when you get them home on the computer, so do yourself a favor and just enjoy the view that’s in front of you. I had to try though :)
