Letter to the Airlines:Is it too much to ask for a parachute

A fear of flying should not stop a person from traveling the world by plane. I have always wondered why Airlines don’t include parachutes under every seat. How many lives could be saved if there we access to a parachute? When the boat begins to sink you abandon ship so why don’t we follow the same principle when it comes to commercial flight?

The pilots in the Airforce have an eject mechanism in every fighter jet so it’s not implausible for commercial airlines to have an evacuation protocol in which the loss of life and be minimal at worst. This is an industry that grosses more than $30 billion. Why do we the consumer allow for our lives to be completely dependent on the proper functioning of a vehicle in which some airlines will fire there workers no questions asked if they simply touch the outside of the plane?

If you have a no exceptions policy when it comes to this rule of touching the outside of an aircraft, which insinuates the sensitivity of this aircraft to certain pressures and forces, why not invest more in the safety of your customers?
If your airplane goes down and people die, people will be hesitant to fly your airline.

However, if your plane goes down and people don’t die because you provided them with the opportunity to evacuate a sinking ship you can immediately reassure the people that their safety is of your highest concern and there would be no doubt in that because the evidence would show.

I don’t have a fear of flying, I have a concern for impacting the ground at maximum velocity. We provide cars with air bags to save lives but don’t seem to take the same safety precautions when it comes to commercial airlines. I think it’s time passenger safety was reevaluated for the sake of Life!
