Hot air ballooning in Eden (Nelspruit)

Venturing on a hot air balloon trip should be in the top 10 things to do on your bucket list! We were very fortunate to embark on a hot air balloon trip over Nelspruit a little while ago and this is by far one of the best ways to see one’s home town.

Neels Bothma and his family who form part of Hot Air Ballooning South Africa is extending their services to Mpumalanga. They are currently operating in Kwazulu-Natal, the Free State and Gauteng. The team is extremely experienced and have 1000s of flying hours under the belt.
We started our journey very early on a Sunday morning at the local airport and flew over the iconic Mbombela Stadium with its giraffe-architectural style. The air was crisp and the new day was upon us.

Everywhere we went people would come rushing out of their houses and wave at the hot air balloon with big smiles on their faces. Drivers would even pull their vehicles off the road to look at the multi coloured hot air balloon that graces the sky. This was simply magical!
If you plan to go for a hot air balloon ride, be sure to take a beanie or hat to cover your head. The hot air from the gas cylinders can irritate your scalp a little as it gets quite hot.

For an hour and a half we flew over Nelspruit and marvelled at the green city, surrounding farm lands and lush hill tops.
