Story behind every photo. PISA. Part 1

IMG_2159.JPG

This photo was taken in Pisa some hours later after my arrival at the Airport of Genoa.

The distance between Pisa and Montecatini Terme, where I’ve stayed at the hotel, is about 50 kilometers, so it took another 40 minutes to reach Pisa. Tour to Pisa was a kind of additional excursion and nobody wanted the miss the opportunity to see famous leaning tower in person ;)

So the whole trip to Pisa was a «one place visit»! This place is on the photo and called «Piazza dei Miracoli» (English variant – Square of Miracle). Square is surrounded by walls, organizing kind of a castle, but when you come inside it absolutely doesn’t look like a castle.

On the foreground you can see Pisa Baptistery – beautiful medieval building, finished in the 14th century. An important notice – it is the largest baptistery in Italy and from the point of entrance it dominates the whole view.

Then (it is not clearly seen on this photo) one’s can have the pleasure of seeing Pisa Cathedral – another even more ancient building, constructed in the 11th century! Really great example of Romanesque architecture.

And only after, on the background, there is the main tourist attraction – the Leaning Tower of Pisa! Another photo-story will be dedicated to this object ;)

That is it for photo #3. Next chapter is coming up shortly.
