In 2003, Roseline was living with me in the house on Romaniuk Drive.
Syrille was in Maryland and Betty was living with her first boyfriend.
Gaëlle has had a scholarship to study at the University of Washington in Seattle. When not there, she was staying at our house.
Roseline had returned to our house after an attempt to live with one of her friends, that did not last more than 6 months.
Her first real boyfriend (to my knowledge) was a Haitian guy who, during one of his sojourns in Haiti, had easily found Roseline and Betty biological parents. So, Roseline traveled with him to Haiti and met her biological parents, who had separated, and her two sisters and one brother.
I am not saying much more about her biological family.
For reasons that I will not disclose, Roseline had left her Haitian boyfriend and hooked up with Ade, a Nigerian guy.
In the spring of 2003, I could hear Roseline often speaking and crying through the phone. After several weeks of this, I told her that if she wanted to speak about whatever was the problem, I was there.
So, one weekend, Roseline told me that we should go out for dinner and she would talk to me.
That weekend, I was going to Seattle to see Gaëlle running. On my way back, I was wondering about Roseline's problem, and suddenly I realized that she may be pregnant. So, when we went out, I was already prepared.
And indeed, this was her problem. After she told me this, she was surprised that I was not angry about the situation.
I told her that being angry would help neither her nor me.
I also told her that she was welcome to stay at our house.
I asked Roseline if she wanted me to ask my mother, Marie, to come to help her with the birth of her child, and she was enthusiastic about the idea. So, I asked Marie and she immediately agreed.
Then, I organized Marie trip for three weeks in October 2003, for the birth of my first grandchild at the beginning of the month.
