harmfulness of heating foodstuffs in plastics container

Friends, it pleased me to share this with you. Though I understand alot of us knew about the harmfulness of hot water in a plastic container to human's health. Hot liquid causes a potentially harmful chemical to leach out of certain plastics when used to boil water for tea or used to warm our foodstuffs. This release chemicals, bisphenol A, or BPA, which are discovered to be released from some common plastic bottles are released 55 times faster when they were placed in boiling water.

The chemicals contained in plastics can be quite harmful. But given that "plastic" can mean a wide variety of substances, it's difficult to know which ones are bad for us.

Manufacturers often add different chemicals to plastics to give them the exact characteristics they’re looking for, like flexibility, strength, and reduced production cost. These components can include phthalates, bisphenol A (BPA), polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE) and tetrabromobisphenol A (TBBPA) — all of which alter hormone expression in nonhuman animals and humans.

These chemicals can enter the human body in any number of ways and at dramatically different levels. Many of them seep into the environment during the production process or as waste. They enter our waterways and other areas where they eventually make contact with humans.

Some of these chemicals are cancerous, that is why its very important never to heat our foodstuffs in plastics to keep warm before consumption, or to heat water for tea in a plastic container.

In conclusion as an advise:

  1. Do not take hot tea in a plastic water

  2. Do not anything hot in plastic bag

  3. Do not heat any foodstuff in microwave using plastic
