The World's number 2 in Tennis, Rafael Nadal overcame Russian Daniil Medvedev to win the Rogers Cup 2019 which is also the Canadian Open. This was the pair's first meeting which gave Medvedev a chance to pull off a set back on Nadal.
Medvedev came into this match strong, not dropping a set in he's run up to the final. He actually got ahead early in the game with a break point, but the Spaniard proved too strong as he came back to lead the break 4-1.
Nadal went on to beat the Russian 6-3, 6-0 to wrap up he's 35th Masters 1000 title. The 18-time Grand Slam champion is in good form and has a chance to climb to World number 1 in ranking by the end of the year if the winning continues.
