Seriously though this behavior makes it very obvious that bloggers should own their own page. Everyone should have the option to moderate their own comments section manually.
I've heard discussion about this over the years, last year @novacadian was talking about a "captcha" option, and more recently I heard @mepatriot bring it up.
I'm wondering what it would look like or how hard it would be to have in our own settings a 'captcha option' you select it if you are under a spam attack, and it makes everyone who replies to your blog or comments have to prove they are not a computer first. You turn it off when things go back to normal.
