First of all, what is urbex ? It's an exploration of usually invisible and hidden places. Explorers are trying to get to this places in principle of "take only pictures, leave only footsteps", which means that they're should leave the place in a such state in which they found it.
Po pierwsze, czym jest urbex? To eksploracja zazwyczaj niewidocznych i ukrytych miejsc. Odkrywcy starają się dostać do tych miejsc w myśl zasady "take only pictures, leave only footsteps", czyli powinni zostawić obiekt w takim stanie, w jakim go zastali.
The most popular destinations for explorers are abandoned buildings, such as factories, hospitals or palaces, but there are many sections of the explorations. Fascinating places for explorers are also:
- active buildings e.g. engine rooms, roofs, elevator shafts etc.
- catacombs e.g. in Paris
- sewage and storm sewers (draining)
- transit tunnels
- technical tunnels
Najbardziej popularnymi miejscami do "uprawiania" urbexu są opuszczone budynki, takie jak fabryki, szpitale, pałace. Jednak istnieją również odłamy urbexu. Ciekawymi miejscami dla eksploratorów są też:
- czynne budynki np. dachy, maszynownie, szyby wind itp.
- katakumby np. te w Paryżu
- kanały ściekowe i burzowe (draining)
- tunele tranzytowe
- tunele techniczne
Many explorer have a different purpose, some do it for good photos, some for adventure or history aspects, but for many of them urbex is a connection of them and an integral whole.
There is no doubt that in Poland fashion for urbex is born, but if you want to "play"this game you have to be aware that it's not so easy and safe. You have to remember about law aspects during explorations - make sure the intrusion into the area does not end for you as a offence. Also, every explorer respects the area of interesting and don't destroy them! If you think that you could force the door or break the window just to get to the building you can't call yourself a real explorer, you became a vandal. Being in abandoned places you have to remember about your safety too, every thoughtless step can end up tragic. Here are some advices for beginners:
- never explore alone;
- take with you flashlight and pocket knife;
- dress appropriately - comfortable clothes and boots with a thick sole;
- refuel the car if you have an opportunity;
- don't drink alcohol;
- have a cell phone with full battery.
And the last advice, never give up - successful trips ;)
Wielu eksploratorów ma inne cele swoich podróży, jednym chodzi o świetne zdjęcie, inni cieszą się z samego odkrycia, jeszcze dla innych ważny jest aspekt historyczny miejsca. Ale większość z nich łączy te wszystkie cele w jedną spójną i integralną całość.
Nie ma wątpliwości, że w Polsce narodziła się moda na urbex, ale jeśli chcesz się w to "bawić", musisz być świadomy pewnych rzeczy. Musisz pamiętać o kwestiach prawnych, upewnij się, że wtargnięcie na teren nie skończy się dla Ciebie upomnieniem lub innymi nieprzyjemnościami. Każdy eksplorator szanuje miejsca, w których się znajduje i nie niszczy ich! Jeśli wydaje Ci się, że będziesz w stanie wyważyć drzwi lub zbić okno, aby dostać się do miejsca, to nie możesz nazywać się prawdziwym "urban explorer", stajesz się wandalem. Będąc w opuszczonych miejscach, szczególnie budynkach, musisz również pamiętać o bezpieczeństwie, każdy krok może być niebezpieczny. Oto kilka porad dla początkujących eksploratorów:
- nigdy nie eksploruj sam;
- weź ze sobą latarkę i scyzoryk;
- ubierz się odpowiednio (wygodne ubrania i buty z grubą podeszwą)
- zatankuj samochód do pełna jeśli masz taką możliwość;
- nie pij alkoholu;
- miej ze sobą naładowany telefon komórkowy.
