P. merkusii is included in the multipurpose tree species that are continuously developed and expanded for future cultivation for timber production, sap production, and land conservation. In Java, pine or tusam is known as a producer of wood, resin and gondorukem that can be further processed so as to have a higher economic value. 
This pine plant has an important role, because besides being a pioneer plant, pine shell can be used as fuel and its ashes are used for fertilizer mixture, because it contains potassium, pine leaf extract has potential as bioherbisida to control the growth of weeds in plants. In addition, the peculiarity of pine trees that produce further processed sap will have a high economic value.
