Apokentro is a traditional tavern in Metsovo, Greece. The tavern is located near the center of the town, and the name of the tavern speaks directly to its location («από» and «κέντρο» in Greek literally means «from the center»).
In Apokentro, we tasted perhaps the most delicious pizza in Greece.
The fact is that Metsovo is famous for its local cheeses. For more than half a century there is established the production of many kinds of excellent cheese. First of all, it is metsovone – semi-hard smoked cheese of the pasta filata family.
It was with smoked cheese that we tasted pizza in the Apokentro tavern and it was a delicious pizza.
Best Greek pizza ever.
