'Cars in Flight' Custom Car Show Pattaya, Thailand - Pt1 - GTR HEAVEN

Nissan GT-R AKA 'GODZILLA'

There's been a lot written on the topic of the Nissan GT-R cars over the years. I'll try to stick to my experiences in the main. This is part 1 covering a recent custom show here in Thailand at the Terminal 21 'airport terminal' themed shopping mall, called 'Cars in Flight'. Featuring a heavy representation of cars from the 'Bounce Luxury' customization process of adding air suspension, trick wheels and tires and 'stancing' the cars.

There was a lot to get through. The stanced cars will come in later parts, the other half of the show was represented as 'supercars'. Nissan GT-Rs represented a vast majority of them. It was almost as if every GT-R for hundreds of miles around had gathered at the event.

From Old to New

Nissan Skyline GT-R is actually a name spanning way back to 1969 when the first souped up version of the original Skyline was made for touring car racing. GT-R stands for Gran Turismo–Racing. This in a 'does what it says on the tin' kind of way - These cars are designed to be versatile and accessible enough to happily take you on both a grand tour and a racing track!

This is the variant known as R32 Skyline

Also may be memorable for many via the Fast and Furious franchise or Gran Turisimo racing sim!

I recall the days way back when the R32 and then R34 were launched in the UK. They proved to be formidable 'supercar beaters' yet costing about half the price. They may not have been luxurious or the Japanese interior plastics may have seemed a little 'cheap'. Yet they were halo cars for the company, many parts hand assembled, mechanically astonishing, and sold at a loss-leading price. Today, their values are climbing rapidly.

There were a lot of the newer variant on show. Some of them had very extreme and exceptional modifications.

Now for possibly one of the wildest GT-R builds in Thailand. Based on the older R32, this has been built to resemble some GT Super Series race car. Not sure it's very useful on the street - I believe mostly it's carried on trailers to and from these shows. What a spectacular build it is. Don't miss all the crazy details like side-exit exhausts.

There is some serious scaffolding going on in the back. Looks ready for a run up Pikes Peak!

The Wildest R35

Now to the latest iteration, around now since 2008.

Exhaust tips so big I can fist them. 4 of them. Check out that carbon splitter, it looks like it could slice ham.

Is it just me, or is this car just crazy?

LibertyWalk in Thailand. This was one very tricked out R35 with widebody as you'll see below.

I'm not sure I could bring myself to it. Brash is the word I'd use. Nice work however, it's a well build ride no qualms there. Perhaps the one to the right is more like it.

The numberplate more of a giveaway here, as to this being an R34 waiting for a hood repaint I guess.

GT-R Mass Gathering

Below, rows upon rows - I couldn't manage to count them all but likely over 50 were gathered on the day!

*Apart from a 350Z, it's all GT-R in this photo!

Many thanks for reading this far. How many GT-R can you count in this post? :)
