Top Selling Albums 0f 1980's - Spot #94

In contrast to position #95, this album makes perfect sense to my biased taste. Not that I am a great fan of the band sans David Lee Roth….

In spot #94 is *Van Halen’s * album 5150 , their first after departure of lead singer David Lee Roth and first with vocalist Sammy Hagar.

Named after the late Eddie Van Halen’s home studio the album was a commercial success providing the band with their first US Number One Album

Good Enough

The first single from the album was Why Cant This be Love which gave the band their second US Top 10 single. Van Halen’s fuzzy guitar style well demonstrated on this track.

Why can’t this be Love

Despite the bands followers being in a turmoil as regards the new lead singer and the bands ‘synthesizer’ sound the healthy sales and a sold out world tour made it rather clear that Van Halen were still alive and kicking.

Dreams

This track which made it to #22 on the Singles chart clearly demonstrates the synthesizer driven sound which permeated the 5150 album.

As always, thanks for stopping by and your support is fully appreciated
