Even to Millennial’s, I am sure this band needs no introduction. The Rolling Stones have been charting for FIVE DECADES …. And their album Tattoo You released in August 1981 slots in at #99 best selling album of the 80’s with sales exceeding 4.1 million.

The album produced 3 Top 40 singles with the most successful being Start Me Up
Start Me Up – Rolling Stones
The album was a sort of housekeeping exercise with the band reworking unreleased materials going all the way back to early 1970’s and the result Tattoo You reached #1 on the US charts, their last number one album.
Waiting on a Friend
The second most successful single was Waiting on a Friend which reached #13 on the US charts, highlighting Mick Jaggers distinctive vocals…. And some superb sax courtesy of Sonny Rollins (this man is worth a blog post dedicated only to him…legend). The final single which made the charts was Hang Fire, making #20 on the US charts but did not make the charts in the UK.

Truth be told, I have never been a big fan of the Rolling Stones but one cannot detract or deny their achievements. This album was for me one of their weakest …. What do you think? Share your thoughts below…
