One of the best aspects of music is something called ‘genre’… different styles or composition which follow a conventional definition. Most of us identify with or align ourselves with certain genre’s. Now, when I first heard the following artist I had zero respect or interest in his music. In fact I could not even identify the genre…pop?? Over the decades he established himself as a very talented musician and worthy of the chart listings he achieved.
In position #96 is Prince with his album 1999
The title track from the album 1999 failed to reach the Top10 on the US charts, peaking at #46.

As part of his contract when signing with Warner Prince insisted on total artistic control having already established himself as a musical force with his formidable talents as a writer and musician.
The second single from the album was Little Red Corvette which made it to the Top 10 peaking at position #6

There is no doubting the polish and professionalism of the video… and for me that is where it ends. No apologies… my blog, my opinion gets first stab. A small Michael Jackson wannabe!! There were so many acts drumming out similar music that he should have got lost in the morass.
But as it turns out ….. he got better with time …. But that is for later
The only other single from the album was Delirious another Top 10 hit.
