Street Photography: Singapore River Ferry Cruise

I took this picture while waiting to pick up some delivery orders. It was taken at the interval section between Boat Quay and Clarke Quay. Was trying to capture the scenes of the river, when a ferry passed underneath it. That gave me the idea to try and include in the overall composition.

Attempted a few and this was the most complete

  • Without cutting of the top of the skycrapers
  • With the boat not to close to the edge.

This ferry of the Singapore River Cruise that takes visitors through most of the length of Singapore river.

A few nuggets of information of Singapore River

Singapore River was the lifeline of trade during the days as a colony of Britain. While it's no longer area of trade, it's significance as an area of commerce remains.

The 3 Quays that the river flows through Boat Quay, Clarke Quay, and Robertson Quay are bustling with life, with a eclectic selection of dining, clubbing, up market real estates.

Up to the 80s, there still many bump boats transporting cargo up and down this river like the ones in the photo below. Then our OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) government whose obsession for santisation compelled them to clean up this place and convert it to a tourists hot spot.
