Hamazushi's in Okinawa

In Okinawa, I think one of the most fun dining experiences would have to be at Hamazushi’s, which is known for the sushi go-round. The way in which you order food is unique from regular restaurants.

Specifically, you use a monitor beside each table to punch in your request(s). The plates of sushi are continually rotating past all of the tables throughout the dining experience on a conveyor belt type of device.

Once your electronic order is almost to your table, a buzzer will sound from your monitor, notifying you that your food is on its way.

Desserts and condiments work in much the same way.

The only time you really need to talk to a staff member is if you wish to order a drink or if you are ready for your check.

Another upside to the conveyor belt system is that if you are not sure what you would like to order or if you see something coming your way that looks good to you, you can pick it up and begin eating. The only stipulation with this is that it cannot be on a red plate because that means someone ordered that item, and they are waiting for it.

The conveyor belt runs directly from the chef’s counter to your meal table, so they will send items out that were both ordered and not ordered, giving you many choices.
