What is intermittent fasting? (Quick simple explanation)

It's basically a set period of time where you don't eat any food.

It's that simple.

For you to get the benefit of intermittent fasting, you have to avoid food for at least 16 hours to get its maximum benefits.

Then use 8 hours to consume your meals.

Some persons go up to 20 hours and just eat within the 4 hour period, it varies.

But the most popular is the 16:8 protocol.

The benefits are amazing.

Look at it this way.

If you constantly drive a car 24/7 365, it's going to break down at some point.

Our bodies are no different.

You have to take some rest from eating all the time.

Digestion takes a lot of energy and time to break down foods eaten throughout the day.

So by giving your body a break from eating and the taxing digestion process, you're basically healing the body.

Back then when humans used to hunt food for survival, do you think they catched food every single day?

Absolutely not.

Sometimes it takes several days to catch something that will feed your family.

But guess what? they still survived.

Somehow, it's coded in our culture that we have to eat every time there's a little pinch of hunger.

But you don't have to be a slave to your gut.

You don't have to fast every single day.

Doing it a couple days out of the week will provide your body with huge benefits such as:

  • Losing excess body fat
  • Reducing insulin resistance
  • Reduces inflammation in the body
  • Having more time to be productive
  • And many more benefits.

Just give it a try don't just go all in.

Take baby steps and eventually your body will adapt to that new pattern of eating.
