A truck driver named Steve had been driving for way too long. The highway was coming up, but he didn’t know if he could make it. He had to pee bad. Still, this tank of liquid rotten eggs had to make it to the dog food company by this afternoon, and he didn’t want to be late!

Thankfully he was approaching a fast food joint. Yes! Finally a place to use the bathroom.

He quickly pulled over, stomped the breaks and hopped out of his truck, rushing in to use the bathroom.

The cashier lady saw him zip by, and then looked at his bright yellow truck he had left in the middle of the road in front of the building. He hadn’t even parked the truck. Slowly, it moved down the road.

She gasped.

What she didn’t know was that when Steve slammed the brakes on his tanker-filled with liquid eggs, they crashed into the front of the tank, pushing the truck forward with momentum.

All the cashier knew was that the truck was moving by itself. “That can’t be good,” the cashier muttered to herself as the truck rolled down the road.

She also didn’t know, this truck was headed straight for the highway. It was actually going the wrong direction. It was on the same lane as the Blue family’s bright blue truck, which wasn’t too far away.

Even though Dyan and the Blue children had no idea, the chase was still on! Mr. and Mrs. Blue had taken another route to the bridge to meet the children there by surprise. However this didn’t work. By the time he made it there, Maya was already driving off down the road, the only thing still on the bridge was a scampering moose. So they followed the truck all the way through town and even to the highway, even though they were about ten cars behind the truck when they finally merged on.

“Maya is a really good truck driver,” Mr. Blue mumbled to himself while checking all lanes for a space to move up.

Mrs. Blue had a hand to her heart and was taking slow, deep breaths. “Who cares about her driving skills?! We need to be thinking about our children’s safety! Teal is in that truck!”

She pulled her phone out of her pocket. “I’m phoning the police. We should call them to put roadblocks down, or… something! Anything to stop them from getting hurt!”

The quick, high-pitched sputter of police sirens whined in the distance and was getting louder. A huge white police SUV sped passed them, red and blue lights flashing.

Another siren could be heard from behind them, and another. They even heard the hum of a helicopter overhead, which also had the uniform police colors on it.

They watched on in silence as it whizzed past them to the blue truck not too far ahead.

“...looks like somebody already did that,” said Mr. Blue. he rubbed his face and signed.
