SAVING OUR ENVIRONMENT

The environment is our home. It is where we live, breathe, and find food. But today, our environment is in danger. We are murdering clean air, water, and land with our own hands. We have to save our environment for our sake and for our children's sake, if we want a future. Little changes that we all could make, and everyone would need to be responsible.

First, we can reduce waste. Every day, people throw away plastic bottles, bags, and other things that don’t break down easily. Where they eventually end up in our oceans, on our roadways, killing our animals and polluting our world. By using reusable bags and bottles, we can cut down the amount of waste we create. It's the littlest thing that makes all of the difference.

Tree planting is another way to save the earth. Trees clean the air and provide homes for birds and other animals. They also help reduce the heat around us. The more trees that we plant, the more cool and clean place that we have to live in. Not all that we have to own a large farm and start planting trees, we could simply begin by planting a tree in our backyard or even better, participate in some of the tree-planting events that occur in our community.

Saving water is also important. Clean water is disappearing in a lot of places. We waste water too, leaving the faucet open, and taking extra long showers. If we use water carefully, we save this precious resource. Simple things like turning off the tap when brushing our teeth or using a bucket to wash our cars can make a huge difference.

Lastly, we must learn to use energy wisely. Turning off lights and appliances when they’re not in use helps reduce the amount of electricity we consume. Solar energy, which is a really good substitute since it is derived from the sun, which is free and clean.

If we all do our part we can keep our world a place for our children and grandchildren. We owe it to ourselves, to our children, to the earth.
