For the last few days, I have been reconstructing my ideas. Especially with the same concept of man being "brutish, poor, nasty" by Thomas Hobbes. I still do think this is the bestest example to explain a human being. But still there is space for something else. The talk about harmony, peace and love of human beings for each other cannot be denied. Take us - people of once united India - as an example. If I just talk about our similarities, I can write a good book, and earn some good hatred. Lol, just kidding.
Now within this perspective, I have two more examples. Like recently, I have been in touch with people of India and Bangladesh on Hive. Man we talks like we are blood related. Hatred? They made me feel like this concept does not even exist. We talk, we share, we laugh, and more importantly, we do not care about nationality. Nobody begins a conversation by asking, “Wait, which side of the border are you from?” We simply talk.
The second one is of: independence day. We all be sharing each other independence day with joy, and the people from the neighboring country be chilling with us as well.
So one thing is for sure, we are good humans.
Everyday there is this negative news, but finally, thanks to those people, I think I have found the goodness in life. And I am not even exaggerating.
The second thing for sure is: there is forced hatred.
Think about it. Most of us are born without knowning anything, where one country ends and another begins. A child does not come into this knowing that he is supposed to hate that specific person. He was simply born, on the other side of a line drawn on a map. And unfortunately, they are forced to learn it later. Some do; some don't. The propoganda revolves around the concept of "Us vs Them."
And I can this phenomenon - the forced hatred. Feeling proud with 49 other :)
Vaste ne bhaiya (vastegana huiya)
And then there are memes. Who would have thought that such things can be a merging force. And, I can guarantee, our parents consider those things stupid and time waste. I do too, but it is the need of the time. The thing is: they are doing something more important than we realise. A meme shares no border, but yes, it does share a good laughter.
Sometimes, I think through these memes, this GenZ and other can achieve a lot. Especially those things which our politicians, diplomats and hisotrians have failed to do so. We might argue over cricket - the second religion for people around here - but this thing is beautiful in itself.
Because, I have been saying this for a long time - opposite attracts.
Just like a magnet, opposite attracts. There is no fun, no goodness in being same minded and all. There should be some tusle, some arguments, some disagreements, and most importantly, some challenges. But one thing needs correction: we are opponents; and not enemies.
Opponents not enemies
This is the whole thing. We are keeping the challenge alive, still competing but without hatred. An opponent is one who make you angry during the game, but after that both of you will be sitting for a tea and sharing some good laughters. An enemy? There is no need for this nonsense. The real thing is to love where you belong, but do that without being taught to hate where someone else belongs.
In the end, all we need to do is to remember - we all are human beings. So maybe Hobbes was not thoroughly right with his approach; but I would not deny it, until I feel it. Till then, let the both ideas sink in.
“No one is born hating another person because of the colour of his skin, or his background, or his religion.” - Nelson Mandela
