All Time Favorite

Over the years my most preferred food has changed and evolved. Now my mum does more of the cooking because I’m with her. Growing up I wasn’t a fan of sweets, but I was in love with bread and Fanta.

Then my preferred food became Garri and Banga soup, since I grew up with my dad I had to learn how to cook from him and what I couldn’t learn I had it handy from my two favorite cookery books, here is the recipe for bangs soup, that I learnt from a cookery book.

Recipe:

4 cups of native or Agric banga
Fresh pepper as much as you’d prefer(because our limit of pepper might be different)
Salt to tasteSeasoning cubes (I prefer knorr)
Banga spice
Fresh fish(because of how cold it gets in the mouth make sure you use enough pepper and spice when steaming it)
2 bulbs of onion
Water
Mortar and pestle (for pounding the Banga)
Pot
Garri
Now this recipe is what I can remember after so many years has passed since I last cooked it, so Banga soup isn’t my favorite dish now.

When I turned 11 my favorite food became ebubu and yellow soup. Now ebubu is a mixture of yam and ripe plantain and palm oil, yellow soup is a native soup to the tribe of nembe. Ebubu still holds a place in my heart but times and the current economy cannot make me keep it as my favorite.

When I started living alone I cooked a lot of jollof rice variations and stew variations, I can’t say they’re my favorite food but it served its purpose. When I started looking for easy snacks to learn, I learnt how to make popcorn.
And I modified it to my own recipe.

Recipe

Groundnut oil or butter
Popcorn corn
Sugar
Milk
Pot
This became my go to snack, it was easy to make, cheap and affordable, it is now my highest ranking snack, I stopped taking Fanta a long time ago.

My all time favorite would have to be fried plantain accompanied by fried eggs, accompanied by noodles. It’s a simple dish to prepare and easy to access. Even though the economy is limiting me from accessing it, whenever it’s my payday I like splurging on just that. I would highly recommend this meal as you don’t need to know rocket science to make it.

So to respond to this prompt my favorite food is Fried plantain, fried eggs and noodles with the optional tea by the side: @indiaunited/indiaunited-weekly-contest-14-theme-what-is-your-favorite-food--and-winner-announcement-of-previous-contest?referral=bestbeauty
