🐾🐈❤️Tale of THREE Tails -Part 50: A Week of Firsts and Cally attacks the Catnip!!🐾🐈❤️

Cally is settling in so nicely!

I am so happy to report that the redness and swelling in her ears have gone down substantially with love and care and rubbing cream on them. She's putting on weight and seeming really happy.

She is still super cautious though and scares easily. We have to remind ourselves that she spent most of her life, living on the street.

I made a booboo, to be honest. I was missing Lexi and @matthew-williams happened to be outside with her in his arms, so I let him in to say hi to Cally. Cally stared at her from the bed and Lexi stared at her from on top of the suitcase and it wasn't even a split second when Matthew and I moved our concentration and line of sight and Cally went straight for Lexi!! Matthew was such a brave boy and managed to separate them, despite sustaining some nasty scratches in the process. It took the whole day for Cally to come down from the window and to show me a bit of love and trust again. I think it was to much too soon. She did live on the street for an extremely long time and has a lot of battle scares for a kitty who is so little. We'll have to do this a lot more carefully.

I moved Cally into @aimeludick 's room the following evening so that I could air out my bedroom. This also allowed me to regain Lexi's trust through affection and treats (of course) and to give Lexi some love. She did meow from the passage and I managed to coax her back into my room, where I'd made her a nest and she cuddled with me while I was knitting and watching Netflix.

I think I managed to make it up with both cats with quiet time, love, and treats, including catnip! I honestly had no idea what to do with the stuff, so Aime helped me divide it into the muslin bags for them to chew on.

We also got Cally her christening collar so she's officially one of the clowder! I really wanted her to have this before she goes to the vet to be sterilized and microchipped.

The ladies who rescued her are splitting the costs for all her initial care. including her sterilization and chipping. God, I am so grateful because I'm totally broke now.

Back to the catnip, the shop I bought the collar from also gave me a bag of catnip which, as I said, Aime helped me to me share with the 3 cats. Cally was first! Here is a hilarious video of her 1st go at catnip!! Hahaha! It's true! They go bezerk! She was at it before I could even get t out of the shopping bag!

Cally still needs lots of love and care before she starts getting introduced to our other babies and the rest of the house. I can't wait till she's all settled in, feels safe with us and we can let her out into the garden. I'd love to see her climb our trees and chase butterflies and bugs and whatever she can find in her forest outside (we have a nice big garden).

Time is everything though and I can't rush her; and luckily, this is not our first rodeo <3<3 We've got you all my furry babies! And Cally, You'll feel right at home soon and in your own time <3

Squeek also deserves some time in the limelight so here are some lovely shots of Squeek cuddling up to @zakludick last night during dinner with my mom. How special is this? Especially considering that Squeek was originally my mom's cat 🥺🥰 And she was the skittish shy girl who would only let one person touch her. Just goes to show what constant love, tenderness, and a feeling of safety goes for these little souls <3
