Last year, @lackofcolor and I went on a little vacation. This was right before lackofcolor started to become sick. Due to COVID-19, we couldn't travel around much further than the Netherlands. It was our first vacation together and after postponing it for some time, it was nice to finally be able to relax and enjoy ourselves.

We rented a big ass villa in Valkenburg that could house up to 6 people. It was nice to have all the space for ourselves, especially if you consider that our own apartment is pretty small and right next to the city road that gets maximum visitors of cars, drunk students, and foreigners that decide to talk right in front of our doorstep. I'm a pretty chill guy, but waking up around 3 AM, several times, due to some dumb drunk idiots that have no brain cells left to be able to think that starting a loud conversation in front of an apartment is a good idea. I mean, I get it if we were to live in the city itself. Oh well, I'm drifting away.

I've never been to Valkenburg, so it was nice to explore it together with @lackofcolor. I promised myself to not take the "usual" amount of photographs and to enjoy the moment as it is since it was our first vacation. EVEN THOUGH it was nice not to that many photographs, I kind of regret not taking more, because it was a lot of fun, and I just go straight back whenever I look at a photograph. Luckily, we bought a polaroid camera, especially for this occasion.

So here are some photographs of our "Vakwerkloft", lol. I didn't even take photographs of all the rooms... sigh. Oh well, there is a sauna, two bedrooms, a living room, and downstairs a kitchen with a nice-looking stove. Outside, we could use a Joule-de-boule track and pet some animals they kept there (chickens, goats, etc.). Every day, we received freshly laid eggs, which was nice to wake up to. The villa, or loft, whatever you want to call it, was perfect. The location was nice, almost in the middle of nowhere, but still very close to downtown. We hiked in the area around it and visited some cool places.

One year already?

Even though it has already been a year since we went on a holiday for the first time together, it feels a bit longer since the situation we're currently in. It's crazy to think that "nothing" was out of the ordinary during the time we were here. Yet, 3 months later, things went rapidly downhill. And now, 8+ Months later, finally, today @lackofcolor her treatment starts (she probably be reading this over there). Can you imagine? Having to fight and struggle 8 months in a row just to get proper treatment? We tried our best, and gave it our best shot. It wasn't easy, but here we are. We made it, just so we can start to make it better :).

Cheers,
Ruben
