Pizzo d'Uccello

Last summer I climbed Pizzo d'Uccello mountain.
This mountain is a beautiful peak inside Apuane Alps (Tuscany, Italy).
Alps are in north Italy, between Liguria and Friuli, nevertheless there is a group of mountains in Tuscany called Alps (Apuane Alps) because of their altitude, wilderness and morphology.

North side is famous for one of the most beautiful (and hardest) climbing route in Italy.

We have choosen to climb Pizzo d'Uccello from north side not along the famous climbing route, but along 'Tordini - Galligani' via ferrata (via ferrata means a mountain route equipped with steel cables and ladders).

We reached 'Foce Siggioli'. From here we choose a little bit exposed shortcut to the safer main route of ascent.
Here Pizzo d'Uccello summit from the final part of the shortcut:

We saw also the dead body of a chamois, with a big wound in the sternum:

Finally, the summit and the view from there!
