SONG REQUEST 50% HP Challenge Week 10! - Winner: @yisusth Runner-up: @naradamoon

Hello everybody on HIVE, and especially the Music Community. My name is Jasper and I'm writing (and singing) to you from Cape Town, South Africa!

I am into the 10th week of this challenging series of posts I have set myself for Thursdays! BUT I Need your Help to keep going please!

This is the challenge I'm setting myself every Thursday: I ask for cover song requests on the MUSIC community, and then pick a favourite song to learn and post a live video of me attempting it. The person who asked for the winning song then gets 50% of the post rewards in HP! If I pick a second song, that person gets 20% of the post rewards in HP as well!

I received some great requests this week! If I didn't get around to your request this week, please keep asking for it and there is a good chance it will win in the weeks to come! Please keep trying with either the same request, or a different one, in the comments of this post?

There are also times when I get a song request that I would love to tackle with my singing and writing friend @clairemobey. She was able to help me out for Weeks 8 and 9 and I look forward to being able to do some more duets with her!

Let's get to this week's winner!

This week's winner is @yisusth who has been a great supporter of my posts, as well as many others I have seen across the Music Community! He is a fantastic trumpet player in his own right and recently won the first rounds of the Hive Music Festival as the winning instrumentalist so be sure to check him out and follow him! He asked for quite a tricky, but beautiful number by Sting called "Shape of my Heart". Luckily, I am improving at learning new songs and finding ways to play them that suit me, because I didn't have a lot of spare time to practice this week! Haha!

Here is a video of the original:

Well done @yisusth - you will be getting 50% of this post's rewards in HP!

Now for the first time in this series, a previous winner has nearly won again! Right back at the beginning of this series, @naradamoon won Week 2 with his request of "Crazy" by Gnarls Barkley. This time @naradamoon has asked for "Wisemen" by James Blunt. Apparently this song was inspired by 3 boys who used to bully and tease him in school, and the fact that he landed up being the successful one in adulthood, rather than them! Haha!

Here is the original:

So there we are - just to confirm that it can be done - if you have had a song picked by me before, you are definitely welcome to ask for another one!

NOW READER, perhaps next week is your turn? Please give me some suggestions of cover songs you would like me to try next week, and maybe you'll be the winner next time!

See you Next Week!

Lyrics for Shape of my Heart by Sting

He deals the cards as a meditation
And those he plays never suspect
He doesn't play for the money he wins
He don't play for respect
He deals the cards to find the answer
The sacred geometry of chance
The hidden law of a probable outcome
The numbers lead a dance
I know that the spades are the swords of a soldier
I know that the clubs are weapons of war
I know that diamonds mean money for this art
But that's not the shape of my heart
He may play the jack of diamonds
He may lay the queen of spades
He may conceal a king in his hand
While the memory of it fades
I know that the spades are the swords of a soldier
I know that the clubs are weapons of war
I know that diamonds mean money for this art
But that's not the shape of my heart
That's not the shape
The shape of my heart
If I told her that I loved you
You'd maybe think there's something wrong
I'm not a man of too many faces
The mask I wear is one
But those who speak know nothing
And find out to their cost
Like those who curse their luck in too many places
And those who fear are lost
I know that the spades are the swords of a soldier
I know that the clubs are weapons of war
I know that diamonds mean money for this art
But that's not the shape of my heart
That's not the shape of my heart
That's not the shape
The shape of my heart

Lyrics for "Wisemen" by James Blunt

She said to me, "Go steady on me"
Won't you tell me what the wise men said?
When they came down from Heaven
Smoked nine 'til seven
All the shit that they could find
But they couldn't escape from you
Couldn't be free of you
And now they know there's no way out
And they're really sorry now for what they've done
They were three Wise Men just trying to have some fun
Look who's alone now
It's not me, it's not me
Those three wise men they've got a semi by the sea
Got to ask yourself the question
Where are you now?
Got to ask yourself the question
Where are you now?
Really sorry now they want to know
They got caught up in your talent show
With you pernickety little bastards in your fancy dress
Who just judge each other and try to impress
But they couldn't escape from you
Couldn't be free of you
And now they know there's no way out
And they're really sorry now for what they've done
They were three wise men just trying to have some fun
Look who's alone now
It's not me, it's not me
Those three wise men they've got a semi by the sea
Got to ask yourself the question
Where are you now?
Got to ask yourself the question
Where are you now?
Look who's alone now
It's not me, it's not me
Those three wise men they've got a semi by the sea
Got to ask yourself the question
Where are you now?
Got to ask yourself the question
Where are you now?
Where are you now?
Where are you now?
Got to ask yourself the question
Where are you now?
Got to ask yourself the question
Where are you now?
