In Summer, I have to admit the Forysthia is not as brilliant as other trees.
It does however display full-sized leaves over branches and trunk in peak shape.
These trees are amazingly easy to grow in my climate, where they love cold and wet, while also able to withstand lots of heat. The thick leaves, that are almost evergreen are superfactories for creating explosive branch and root growth every year. In Spring the tree puts on a dazzling display of butter yellow drooping star flowers.

Above is my preferred front view, and below is the side view. The side view is starting to look like a better front to me, with the added width and depth details.
This tree is a bit hard to re-style, as it focuses most new growth from shoots on the top. So that means that you are basically stuck with the branches the tree forms when it is very young, unless you do something very radical and chop the tree down back to the lowest branch.
The pot used for growing this tree is a training basket I made with window screen. It allows for extra fast water drainage, and better aeration to the roots. This really helps to prevent rot and fungus problems. This tree is a heavy drinker and fairly resilient against dampness problems, so it probably does not need this kind of quick drainage pot as much as other species.
However, one added benefit for this basket pot is that it actively air prunes the aggressive root system this species tends to form. This tree forms too many roots ordinarily in a pot, and has to be replanted and root trimmed every year. In this pot, it has lasted a few years without any root maintenance or need for re-potting. Over time, this pot will train the tree to have a perfect root-ball shape.
