Hola, buenas tardes. Hoy tomando mate bajo la sombra de mi enredadera estaba leyendo y descubri muchas cosas sobre ella que no sabia. Su nombre es Santa Rita, es una planta con unas flores tan hermosas de color fucsia, pero también se encuentran blancas, amarillas, rosadas, purpuras, rojas, y anaranjadas. Creo que a todo el mundo le gustaría; es originaria de Brasil.
Algo que no sabia es que tiene propiedades medicinales ya que era utilizada como expectorante, antitusiva y antipirética. Es una planta que siempre tiene flores, sus hojas ovaladas de color verde oscuro hace que se destaque más el color de la flor.

Cuando me la regalaron me dijeron que tardaría varios años en florecer y no fue así. Antes del año empezo a dar flores, la tengo hace más o menos 4 años, hoy se llena de ellas. Hay que tener mucho cuidado cuando se poda ya que tiene espinas muy gruesas y cuando te das cuenta ya estas todo arañado. Un día podando se me hizo un raspón en un dedo y se me infectó, luego supe que era algo muy común que suele pasar. En el vivero nos dijeron que aquello que uno cree que es flor en realidad son brácteas que envuelven a las flores que son pequeñas y salientes de color crema. .
Las brácteas son muy usadas en cosmetología ya que poseen propiedades antisépticas que ayudan a prevenir el acné, también es muy usada en perfumes y cremas. Las bractéas son muy hermosas de ver; se encuentran agrupadas de 10 a 20 al final de la rama, y ese es su gran atractivo. Es una planta que necesita mucho riego, sobre todo en verano. Yo la riego dos veces al día, si no se riega lo necesario sus hojas empiezan a perder ese tono verde oscuro, se aclaran y luego empiezan a caer sus flores; tampoco es conveniente que esté muy encharcada ya que se pudren sus raíces.
Al empezar la primavera es cuando más florece, se llena de mariposas y abejas que extraen el néctar de sus flores. Ellas crecen en grupo de tres sostenidas por las bractéas, estas cumplen la doble función de atraer a los polonizadores y servir para que las semillas vuelen una vez que la flor se seca. A veces estoy en el patio y lo más lindo de ver son los colibries cuando se posan en la flor.

Uno cuando es muy joven no repara en todo eso, vives queriendo tener siempre un poco más, comparándote con otras personas, viviendo acelerado y tratando siempre de superar al otro, luego los años te dan esa pausa para el disfrute, valorando cada día de vida en que uno encuentra paz de la forma que le gusta; son momentos para el disfrute.
