El cuidado de mis manos y el arreglo de mis uñas es parte de mi autocuidado, es algo que disfruto mucho, me cambia el estado de ánimo y me hace sentir bien conmigo misma. Es un hábito de mi estilo de vida que me procuro y respeto.
Desde siempre me he cuidado las manos; siento que las manos son una parte importante de nuestro cuerpo y a ellas debemos prestarle todos los cuidados posibles. Con ellas, podemos sentir muchas sensaciones, mantener contacto con las personas amadas y hacer todo lo que nos gusta.
Recuerdo que desde que era una niña, me encantaba ponerme cremas por todo el cuerpo y embadurnarme las manos hasta verlas blanca para, luego, hacerme dibujos y figuras con los dedos.
Cuando tuve "edad" para pintarme las uñas fui feliz porque quería hacerlo mucho antes, pintaba aquellas uñas postizas que venían en los juguetes de piñatas, las que eran como unos casquitos para los dedos, pues las pintaba y jugaba a que ya era grande con mis manos arregladas.
Me gustaba ver a mi madre, a mi abuela Josefina y a una de mis tías con sus manos arregladas y las uñas pintadas, todas muy coquetas con sus manos bellas.
Desde entonces, me hago la manicura como un ritual de amor propio. Me gusta tener las manos bien cuidadas, pues están expuestas, en todo momento, en cualquier cosa que hagamos. Cada domingo, aparto un tiempo para mí y me dedico a arreglarme las manos y los pies.
Es un momento a solas, un rato para cuidarme y consentirme, considero que es, también, un momento en el que mi creatividad se potencia, cuando escojo los colores de esmaltes y los diseños que me voy a hacer.
La única vez que he dejado de pintarme las uñas, pero no de cuidarlas, fue el año de la pandemia. Ante la incertidumbre y los temores de aquella época, me tomé un descanso y dejé que mis uñas descansaran de esmalte y acetona desde marzo hasta noviembre, cuando lo retomé para mi cumpleaños. Después, seguí con mi costumbre de hacerlo todos los domingos.
Taking care of my hands and grooming my nails is part of my self-care, it's something I really enjoy, it changes my mood and makes me feel good about myself. It is a lifestyle habit that I take care of and respect.
I have always taken care of my hands; I feel that hands are an important part of our body and we should take care of them as much as possible. With them, we can feel many sensations, maintain contact with the people we love and do everything we like.
I remember that since I was a little girl, I loved to put creams all over my body and smear my hands until they were white and then make drawings and figures with my fingers.
When I was "old enough" to paint my nails I was happy because I wanted to do it much earlier, I painted those false nails that came in the piñata toys, the ones that were like little shells for my fingers, so I painted them and played that I was already grown up with my hands done up.
I liked to see my mother, my grandmother Josefina and one of my aunts with their manicured hands and painted nails, all very flirtatious with their beautiful hands.
Since then, I do my nails as a ritual of self-love. I like to have my hands well cared for, as they are exposed, at all times, in whatever we do. Every Sunday, I set aside some time for myself and dedicate myself to grooming my hands and feet.
It is a moment alone, a time to take care of myself and pamper myself, I consider that it is also a moment when my creativity is enhanced, when I choose the colors of nail polish and the designs that I am going to do.
The only time I have stopped painting my nails, but not taking care of them, was the year of the pandemic. In view of the uncertainty and fears of that time, I took a break and let my nails rest from polish and acetone from March until November, when I resumed for my birthday. After that, I continued with my habit of doing it every Sunday.

Aquí en Bogotá, conocí a una chica colombiana que hace unas manicuras estupendas con unos diseños preciosos. Así que quise dejarme mimar por ella y fui a hacerme la manicura. Me gustó mucho la atención y el cuidado con el que trabaja.
Preparó mis uñas, me quitó el esmalte anterior con acetona, varias veces para que no quedaran residuos. Retiró las cutículas y limó mis uñas. Pocas veces he tenido las uñas largas, me gustan cortas, me parece que se ven delicadas.
Aplicó los productos necesarios para hacerme una manicura semipermanente. Esta manicura me gusta mucho porque el esmalte se seca rápido y no se daña, y, además, es duradera por más tiempo.
Here in Bogota, I met a Colombian girl who does great manicures with beautiful designs. So I wanted to let her pamper me and I went for a manicure. I really liked the attention and the care with which she works.
She prepared my nails, removed the previous polish with acetone, several times so that there was no residue. She removed the cuticles and filed my nails. I have rarely had long nails, I like them short, I think they look delicate.
She applied the necessary products to give me a semi-permanent manicure. I like this manicure because the polish dries quickly and doesn't get damaged, and it lasts longer.

Luego, escogí el color de esmalte. Me gustó un azul celeste que tenía entre tantos colores lindos. Este es un color que me da tranquilidad, me da paz, la paz que siento al mirar al cielo azulito y claro.
Este color tiene una energía de bienestar y armonía en sus matices que me encanta.
El diseño que escogí para pintar encima de mi uña fueron unas ramitas blancas, sencillas, sutiles y muy delicadas.
Admiro la habilidad de estas mujeres que hacen diseños espectaculares en el pequeño espacio de una uña. Es un lienzo mínimo en el que se convierten en todas unas artistas.
Then, I chose the nail polish color. I liked a light blue that I had among so many beautiful colors. This is a color that gives me tranquility, gives me peace, the peace I feel when I look at the clear blue sky.
This color has an energy of well-being and harmony in its shades that I love.
The design I chose to paint on my nails were white twigs, simple, subtle and very delicate.
I admire the ability of these women who make spectacular designs in the small space of a nail. It is a minimal canvas in which they become artists.

El proceso de hacer las uñas semipermanentes es un poco largo. Mientras ella hacía su trabajo, conversamos mucho, lo que me permitió conocer un poco más de los colombianos, de su calidad humana y de su hospitalidad.
Con ella, hice click de inmediato. Es una chica muy simpática y amable, me atendió con mucho cariño, así que volveré a ponerme en sus manos.
The process of doing semi-permanent nails is a bit long. While she was doing her work, we talked a lot, which allowed me to know a little more about Colombians, their human quality and their hospitality.
With her, I clicked immediately. She is a very nice and kind girl, she attended me with much affection, so I will put myself in her hands again.

Quedé muy complacida con el resultado. Mis uñas se ven limpias y bien cuidadas. El color del esmalte se ve precioso, brillante y el diseño muy delicado.
Las manos se ven impecables cuando las cuidamos y les regalamos manicuras completas. Aunque, no hace falta pintar las uñas para lograr esto. Solo un poco de tiempo para mantenerlas limpias y cortas.
Me gusta mucho ver mis manos arregladas y poder sentir con ellas todo lo que me rodea. Agradezco todos los días porque con mis manos cuido, consiento, creo y trabajo.
I was very pleased with the result. My nails look clean and well cared for. The color of the polish looks beautiful, shiny and the design very delicate.
The hands look impeccable when we take care of them and give them full manicures. Although, you don't need to paint your nails to achieve this. Just a little time to keep them clean and short.
I really like to see my hands groomed and to be able to feel with them everything that surrounds me. I am grateful every day because with my hands I take care, I pamper, I create and I work.
