I hope you are having a happy Thursday. Today I come to tell you about a special day. A few months ago, I was a judge for the Children's Voice 2024.
It was a great experience because for the first time I was participating as a judge. The theme was to present several children from the school Gran Mariscal de Ayacucho located in Campeche, where each child participated performing traditional Venezuelan music to select the best song, the best voice and thus compete against the different schools in the state of Sucre.
Espero que estén pasando un feliz jueves. Hoy vengo a hablarles sobre un día especial. Hace unos meses, fui jurado de la Voz Infantil 2024.
Ha sido una experiencia genial porque por primera vez estaba participando como Jurado. La temática era presentar a varios niños de la escuela Gran Mariscal de Ayacucho ubicada en Campeche, donde cada niño participó interpretando música Tradicional Venezolana para seleccionar a la mejor canción, la mejor voz y así competir contra las diferentes escuelas del estado Sucre.
Unbeknownst to me, I was wearing a yellow blouse which the teachers use as their school uniform. It was quite funny because they almost mistook me for one of the teachers.
Sin saberlo, me vestí con una blusa amarilla la cual utilizan los docentes como uniforme de la institución. Fue bastante divertido porque casi que me confunden con una de las maestras.
When I arrived at the school, the teachers were decorating the place, but something very important was missing: a poster representing the activity of that day. I asked them for materials and made the sketch and later, the fastest banner I could have made in years as a cartoonist. It usually takes me a whole day to make banners, this time it took me half an hour. Some children lent me colors, crayons and markers.
Cuando llegué a la escuela, los docentes estaban decorando el lugar, pero faltaba algo muy importante: Un cartel que represente la actividad de ese día. Les pedí materiales y realicé el boceto y posteriormente, la pancarta más rápida que pude haber realizado en años como dibujante. Generalmente tardo un día entero realizando pancartas, en esa oportunidad tarde media hora. Algunos niños me prestaron colores, crayones y marcadores.
Here with the other member of the jury. We tried to be as impartial as possible and two talented kids won. We had to choose one male and one female contestant. All the children gave their all, they sang their hearts out. I was very touched that one of the participants sang my unpublished song "Cumana Te Llevo En Mi" I could not document her participation as I was concentrating on my evaluation. But let me tell you that the girl did very well.
Acá junto al otro miembro del jurado calificador. Tratamos de ser lo mas imparcial posible y ganaron dos niños talentosos. Teníamos que elegir a un participante masculino y una participante femenino. Todos los niños lo dieron todo, cantaron con el corazón de en la mano. A a mí me conmovió muchísimo que una de las participantes cantase mi canción inédita "Cumaná Te Llevo En Mi" no pude documentar su participación ya que estaba concentrada en mi evaluación. Pero déjeme decirles que la niña lo hizo muy bien.
The day before the contest I made a visit to the school to see the kids in their last rehearsal, they are all very nice, one of them gave me some chocolates similar to the Dandy's, it was a nice detail on his part. I also got to sing with another one of the kids Venezuela as he was practicing the instrumental part on the cuatro. I will show them in another TBT. It was very nice to have visited the school and meet children with a pure heart and a desire to learn.
El día anterior al concurso hice una visita a la escuela para ver a los niños en su último ensayo, son todos un encanto, uno de ellos me regaló unos chocolates parecidos a los Dandy's, fue un lindo detalle de su parte. También me puse a cantar con otro de los niños Venezuela ya que él estaba practicando la parte instrumental en el cuatro. Se los mostraré en otro TBT. Fue muy hermoso haber visitado la escuela y conocer a niños con un corazón puro y con ganas de aprender.
