Hello!
As a huge foodie, I enjoy trying new food, yet I was never a huge fan of cooking or doing an effort in the kitchen,
BUT covid-19 lockdown changed everything !
One or two months into the COVID-19 pandemic, The government announced a lockdown in 2020. I had, literally, nothing to do except being on social media all the time ! And to be honest I didn't even think about developing skills. So everyday I would go sit in the kitchen watching my mom cooking and enjoying doing it, and sometimes offer to help.
One day, I decided to bake a lemon tart 🍋🍋
I bought everything I need, went to the kitchen and baked one. The result was.. aweful, it smelled eggy! 🥚🥚 But somehow I didn't give up, I knew that cooking is a skill that improves and develops over time with practice. No one is a masterchef from day one!
After that I baked a vanilla cake and it was.. super delicious! I was extremely happy, proud of myself and confident, and I thought I will get better no matter what! I WANT to develop this skill and I WILL !
So I started following many chefs on youtube, learning new recipes, trying them and asking mom for hacks.. Everything was helpful, even when the amout of food I burnt is huge, but I always keep trying.
Now I feel quite competent at it, the secret, my dears, is to never give up, we all have skills waiting to be developed !
I took photos of everything I baked/cooked and posted them on instagram, even created a hashtag for myself: ♯WhenSarahCooks.
