There are already several people who have shown in this space, Christmas cards and decorations. It is nice to see so much creativity, colors and designs in each one of them. Giving life to a time full of joy, shared memories and meeting with loved ones.
Today I share with you other details that, over the years, brighten up my home environment every December.
From a set of 5 antique Matrioskas, only these 3 remain, and parts of the other two. It is a tradition, which has been one of the gifts offered to children at Christmas time.
Since my childhood they always caught my attention. So did my children, who did not stop until they broke two of them. I love their craftsmanship in wood; hollows inside, where another smaller one is kept, and so on.
Objects that represent fertility, the mother and her offspring. Currently they are made of various materials, but nothing like the authentic ones made of wood, and painted their costumes by hand.
This candle representing a bottle of champagne was a Christmas present my mother once received. She preferred to keep it, rather than set fire to its wick and watch it disappear.
This is a dedicated card, which was a special keepsake for her. She liked to put it in the living room, leaning between her books. Seeing that red candle with its flame, and its flashes of light, makes you feel as if it were real.
Like all Europeans, she liked to use thread tablecloths, embroidered by hand to cover the glass table in the salon.
In any case, she was careful to avoid a spark of fire reaching the tablecloth or staining it with wine.
Something difficult to achieve, since our beloved tablecloth, on several occasions has been visited by different wines, and not exactly white grapes.
Even this kitchen utensil had to be part of the Christmas family. As you can see, this jet-eyed teddy bear is brimming with contentment and love, with his heart visible on his chest.
This set of 6 cup holders was never used. Looking around the house, I found it in the drawer where the tablecloth is kept. In her paintings, children are the only protagonists.
At Christmas, one alcoholic beverage that can be used for toasts is Vodka. I could not fail to introduce you to the 呕ubr贸wka. It is considered the best Vodka in Poland.
The genuine bottle with transparent glass and green cap, brings inside a herb leaf with medicinal properties, which treasures a legendary history, has managed to position its respect, fame and awards worldwide.
The meaning of the brand means: The vodka of the bison grass.
Grass that sprouts in the border area between Poland and Belarus, specifically in the forest of Bia艂owie偶a, and which is the preferred grass of the European bison.
The brand, has made several bottle models. But the most demanded, comes in this case that I show you today, and that in its upper part has bison hair. A work of art in its design.
It should be drunk chilled, neat or with fruit juice, e.g. apple. Those who take it without mixtures, will feel its particular aroma and taste that gives this enigmatic herb.
These little Polish dolls have their traditional costumes. In spite of the years they have been with us, they keep their appearance.
The one wearing the hat, after moving it carefully to take this picture, several fingers fell out of her hands.
Time is unforgiving and always takes its toll, both on living beings and inanimate objects.
At least, the memory of her physical integrity will remain with this image.
This little bell is another of the Polish Christmas objects used to make wishes and then to make the bell ring.
Polish music with its Christmas Carols is a must to energize the magic of these days. New Age music is also a good selection.
If Christmas represents anything, it is the light of joy, of hope, of the foundation of values in our families and friendships.
For that reason, I like to light these two old Polish mining lamps this month.
They use batteries that light a small bulb. The older one is made of solid bronze. Its die-cut information refers to its use. It is dated December 10, 1963. Two years before I was born. So you can imagine what this object has represented by its antiquity for my family and for me.
Christmas has always been linked to the spiritual traditions of each country. Our home, has the representation of each of our citizenship. For Poland, the photo of Karol J贸zef Wojty艂a or John Paul II, the first Polish pope.
For Cuba, to this object purchased years ago, in the well-known Santuario del Cobre in the province of Santiago de Cuba. Place where the Virgen de la Caridad del Cobre, the patron saint of my country and advocation of the Virgin Mary, is venerated.
As you can see in the photo, inside those glass walls, there are small copper stones, extracted from that area.
According to tradition, they help to protect against evils, favoring the luck of our families.
For those who made it to the end of this post, I will share a detail that many do not know.
Many think that Vodka is originally from Russia, however there are records that refer that it was born in Poland, and was used as a disinfectant.
In Warsaw, we find the W贸dki Museum, where the world's largest collection related to this clean drink, extracted from rye, is located.
I no longer have 呕ubr贸wka Vodka at home, but I do have a bottle of an exquisite pink wine, which I will uncork on Christmas Eve, waiting for December 25, together with the fruit punch we prepared.
Thanks to those who visited me. Have a nice start of the week.
