i suddenly saw this nice shadow pattern on the stairway wall. i do not recall having seen it before so i was quite surprised since there was nothing obvious that would cast such a design
there was only one possibility
and sure enough the sliding grill gate was making the shadow. this photo is my entry to the contest
we are mostly here in winter season when the sun is more south but by may it reaches far enough north to make these designs for a few days. then soon passes farther north so by the time the sun sets the angle it strikes the stairwell at will no longer make these shapes. that explains why i have not seen them before
here is from the next day at the same time within a minute, 17:30 in the evening. by chance, the sliding grill happened to be slighty more closed
